Music I Listen To When I Travel

P1070885

My Favorite Travel Music

I listen to a lot…. A LOT of music when I travel. Music makes everything better. It’s a universal language. I could insert one hundred quotes here about the power of music, but I won’t – there are too many that capture perfectly why I listen to music. As I’ve said in a previous post, the simplest of acts are enhanced substantially when music is involved. Music transforms the ordinary into the profound. Some of you may be thinking, “well, isn’t this kind of a bad thing? Can you not enjoy life without music?” Well, of course you can. And you can enjoy traveling, too. But, again, music just makes it better. Taking off on another airplane, looking out the window on a long distance bus, walking the many kilometers that a traveler typically walks, having a glass of wine with a new friend, writing for your blog, making love, for any situation. Happy, sad, arriving, departing, anytime – if fact, I’m listening to music as I write this. However, I try not to listen to music when there are other sounds to pay attention to – walking through a market in India, sitting in a common room in a hostel, cruising on a moped, and although it’s nice to listen to music on the beach, you won’t get to hear to the sound of waves crashing if your headphones are in.

Below is a list of the music I listened to over the last 8 months during my 3rd RTW trip. I’ve decided to separate the list into two parts: the music I listened to during the first part of my trip, and during the last part of my trip.

I truly hope you’ll find some listening bliss in this list.
